An additional protection: your labels with protective varnish
Protective varnish is primarily used to protect your label against colour fading and to extend its lifespan. Whether you prefer a matte or glossy finish, we offer a suitable solution for premium labels that require effective protection.
Interested in adding a protective varnish to your labels? The following points will help you make the right choice:
Protective varnish underlines the high quality of your product and gives it extra protection. Select the appropriate parameters in the online calculator, such as size, substrate and corresponding protective varnish. Then define the order details and download the print files.

How does protective varnish work?
Once your personalized labels have been printed, they are coated with a protective varnish in a final step. A clear liquid varnish is applied to the surface of your sheet or roll labels, then cured using a UV lamp. The top layer is thus covered and protected against fading.
labelletiquette.fr generally offers protective varnish in gloss or matte versions. We recommend matte protective varnish for matte materials and gloss varnish for glossy papers or films. The appearance of the material is thus preserved.

Comparison: labels with and without protective varnish!
What can a protective varnish really do? We’ve put it to the test! In the example on the left, you can see the label without protective varnish, which shows heavy scratches. By comparison, the label on the right with protective varnish resists irritation and retains its even surface. Our test proves that protective varnish can be useful for labels.
Custom labels reflect or underline the quality of your products. This quality needs to be preserved for as long as possible. That’s why we recommend the use of protective finishings, such as protective varnish.
On request, we’ll provide you with a customized sample folder so you can visualize the rendering for yourself. Please do not hesitate to contact us by telephone on +33 (0)4 81 68 19 73 or by email at info@labelletiquette.fr.

Labels with protective varnish or lamination?
Your label deserves extra protection! You can choose between a protective varnish and a laminate. As an alternative to our protective varnish, which protects against simple abrasion, we offer matte or gloss film lamination, which protects against more intense abrasion and makes your labels more resistant. When laminating, a liquid adhesive is first applied to the high-quality labels. Under the effect of pressure and UV light, the adhesive then enables the film to bond to the label. We particularly recommend lamination for products destined for the cosmetics or chemical industries.
If your products are subject to friction in packing cartons, or if you want 100% protection against color abrasion, we recommend film lamination in all cases. To test finishings, we offer you our Premium proofing service. So you can be sure that the result is exactly what you want.
Protective varnish: a versatile application
Another advantage of protective varnish over laminating is the wide choice of combinations it offers. While protective varnish is compatible with almost all materials and our finishings such as relief embossing or blind embossing, lamination is not suitable, for example, for these embellishment techniques.
Tip: labels with varnish can be printed on at a later date using a thermal transfer printer.
Label materials and adhesives with protective varnish
Our online calculator offers you a range of different materials, almost all of them can be combined with a protective varnish. Depending on the intended use of your coated labels, you’ll need the right adhesive. We offer permanent labels, repositionable labels and freezer-resistant labels, among others.

Digital finishings
Digital spot varnish is a transparent varnish that is only applied to certain areas of the label, for example, to highlight certain elements. It is a finish that is applied without embossing tools, and is therefore not a traditional finish. It can also be combined with a protective varnish.
