Roll labels vs. sheet labels

At labelletiquette.fr, you can choose between roll or sheet labels.
Both production methods have their advantages and disadvantages, and are suitable for different fields of application. We’ll tell you when it’s best to produce your labels.

General differences

1. The big difference is how your labels are processed:

Self-adhesive labels on rolls are ideally suited to mechanical processing.
For labels on rolls, it is also possible to customize them as required:

• winding direction
• chuck diameter
• roll diameter or number of labels per roll

Sheet labels do not lend themselves to mechanical processing and are ideal if you glue the labels to your product by hand.

2. Print run size :

Generally speaking:

• Roll labels are more suitable for large print runs
• Sheet labels are ideal for small runs

3. The final difference concerns the choice of label materials and finishes:

Roll and sheet labels can be freely designed in terms of shape, size and design.
However, there are restrictions on the choice of medium:

• For roll-fed labels, on the other hand, you can choose freely from over 15 substrates on the calculator. What’s more, you can have a special finish applied to your label, such as hot foil stamping.
• For sheet labels, the choice of substrates is more limited, and plate labels cannot be coated like digital spot varnish.

However, the optimum solution must always be assessed individually for each order.

Explanation of A4+ labels

At labelletiquette.fr, labels are delivered on sheets with a minimum size of A4 and a maximum size of “A4 plus”:

• An A4+ sheet has a maximum format of : 330 x 220 mm

The maximum dimensions of your labels can be :

• 200 mm wide
• 275 mm high

The advantage of A4+ format

A4+ sheets can be slightly larger than the standard A4 format. This is particularly useful for specially shaped labels, as they can be placed more efficiently on the larger sheet. This makes the production of our A4 labels more efficient and environmentally friendly.

We cannot tell you in advance what size you will receive. This is determined automatically during the print preparation process, based on the quantity and size of the labels you order. The most efficient plate size is automatically selected. This avoids waste and minimizes production time.
