The story
What is Potidou? 100% organic, 100% local baby food in returnable jars, made in Vieux-Habitants. Potidou is a project initiated in 2019 by Catherine and Maxime, agricultural engineers and parents of a 16-month-old baby girl, because they felt it was urgent to relocalize their consumption, in Guadeloupe, as everywhere else. The idea was born out of the fact that all the quality ingredients were available locally, but that the little pots had to be shipped in by boat. With the help of a number of partners, a lot of hard work and a lot of ups and downs. Drawing on their careers in agro-processing (particularly in baby products), the artisanal production chain was finally born in Guadeloupe in 2021.
The product
The ingredients, 100% organic products from Guadeloupe, passion, hard work, respect for the environment and all the good things Guadeloupe has to offer, “for those we love most: our toupitis!” A little extra: Potidou jars are returnable. A system that has been set up with the help of local partners and is proving a resounding success.
The design
Catherine explains that once the Potidou container had been validated, work began on developing the labels. With the guidance of a professional in the field, Catherine and Maxime worked together to create a label design that they felt combined simplicity and gentleness for their little consumers.
The label
The chosen material is WW4031 90 g Matte White Paper – Water-soluble adhesive (FSC® Mix Credit) specially designed for returnable products. The water-soluble adhesive enables the label to be removed after washing in a 1.5% concentrated soda solution at a temperature of 80°C.
