Vinyl film labels – durable and versatile

Self-adhesive labels in transparent or white PP (Polypropylene) and PE (Polyethylene) film are particularly popular in the cosmetics sector, as they combine strength and aesthetics. They are resistant to the oil and water with which cosmetic products come into contact during use. However, areas of application vary depending on the material and requirements. Film labels are also used, for example, to label chemical products.

Advantages of labels on vinyl film

Compared with paper labels, vinyl film labels are more robust, more resistant to tearing, water and dirt. They are used when constraints are too great for paper labels. Labels on plastic films can be used in a wide range of industries, and are resistant to oil, water and various chemicals. With PP or PE labels, you can be sure that your customers will be able to read the information on your product, even if it gets wet. As an added convenience, labels can also be applied to the container before filling.

PP or PE film?

At labelletiquette.fr, you can choose labels made from polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (PE) film. Here is a comparison of the two materials:

PP film is tear-resistant and withstands high temperatures (up to approximately 80–90°C). It is therefore compatible with finishings such as hot foil and/or a protective varnish or lamination. PP film is available in different versions and thicknesses: white matte or glossy in 60 µm, a thicker 90 µm version, as well as transparent and silver options.

PE film is flexible and elastic, but not tear-resistant. It offers similar heat resistance to PP film. However, it is not compatible with special finishings such as hot foil; lamination and protective varnish can still be applied without any issues. PE film is available in white glossy, 85 µm, as well as an eco-friendly version made from organic sugar cane.

Transparent labels

You can also opt for a label on transparent PP film with a “No-Label-Look” appearance. This is a transparent label printed on a flexible polypropylene film (PP film). No-Label-Look labels are used when you want to give your product a special, eye-catching look that simulates screen printing. You can also add a finish to this substrate like any other PE film or paper label, to make the label even more unique and sensational.
